It has been two years now that Globala Kronoberg dedicates fall and winter to promote European mobility programs for youth living in the region.
We call our project ‘caravan‘, because at the very beginning there was a cooperation between Globala Kronoberg and an other organisation from Göteborg, whose aim was to visit places between the two cities on the countryside and promote international projects we take part in.
Although we don’t have a proper touring caravan like our flyer shows (yet), it still represents the original idea and is filled with people who stand for our values. These are:
- bringing international European Union youth programs closer to youngsters
- the facilitate their social, geographical and cultural mobility
- give them the possibility to learn and improve their skills in a nonformal way
- foster them to become conscious european citizens
- support them to gain work experience and also confidence to find their role in the society
During this project our intention is to visit schools, youth centers and municipality-supported places to catch youth and provide them with infos. We strongly believe that this above mentioned principles could help anyone who are adventuorus enough to take the initiative.
Our first journey was to Sunnerbogymnasiet in Ljungby. So we (Joana, Maurizio and Viktoria) squeezed us into the tiny SIP car and also brought with us Mikael, from Funkibator, who has just returned back from his 1-month EVS in Turkey – to share his experiences with the students.
We made our stand visible by using a huge yellow banner saying ‘Vad vill du förändra?’ and also used a screen to show pictures from our projects to catch the eye. Apart from informing the students and the staff at the school, we were giving out flyers, and there was also possibility to play some games like guessing the location of countries and playing puzzle. And, of course, exchange our experiences about different cultures and experiences.
Since it was our first time there, people were a bit shy to come to us, but some brave ones did! So we hope we’ll meet some already familiar faces soon again.
