My new life in Växjö
Hello to everyone! I’m Giulia, I’m italian, I’m 22 years old and I arrived in Växjö only a few days ago.
I had many impressions about the city, people and workplace and they are all positive. I’m gradually beginning to feel the change, especially of the weather, that is very very different from Italy!
I wished to do this kind of experience for a long time, but for many reasons I always postponed. When I finished University, I realized that this was the right moment to change my life, so I decided to leave.
I studied communication at University and I worked for an online tourism newspaper, because my two big passions are travelling and working for a travel journal and I would like to find a job that allows me to combine them in the future.
When I found this project EVS I immediately understood that it was perfect for me.
I love Nordic countries, so Sweden is a perfect place for me, and the project provides work in an association e to be in touch with many young guys from different countries and with different cultures.
I’ve been staying here only for a few days, so I’m not able to precisely say what it means to live here yet, but there is a sure thing: this is not italy and I have to revolutionize my whole life. Every little daily gesture is different. You have to face unusual difficulties, that in your country don’t happen. You have to communicate in an other language, and you feel to be unable to express what you want to say at the beginning. You have to share your time, your space and your haibts with someone different from you.
It’s difficult, but this is the best thing of EVS project: to learn to be self-sufficient, to face every possible situation, to be indipendent, to try to do your best, to ask for help when you need, to share eveything with other people, to be openminded, to be citizen of the world, to remove walls and borders.
It’s too early for me to say what it means to live in an other country for a year, but for now is the best choice I’ve ever made.
I will explain you the rest in a few months!
